If the big "T" was actually SELLING the vehicles with the known problem, than maybe there is a case. I expect a "new" vehicle to have all the KNOWN fixes done to it BEFORE I buy it.

Of course. Toyota's former lawyer wanted to release the documents proving that Toyota knew about the problems, but Toyota stopped him.

Is the state of California attempting to have the state's deficit be paid off by Toyota? This comes as no surprise, since California is the most liberal-thinking state in the country. If they could make a dime by suing God Almighty, they would!

California needs the money, so why not sue Toyota. Too bad they never sued American car makers.

Blackhorse, maybe they should change the name of the state of California to the stuff that goes in the toilet. Toyota runs their company a million times better than the politicians run the state of California.

Leave it to California to jump on an opportunity to squeeze money out of a business even though it will never get to the people that may have been impacted by Toyota's actions,

It is a little late for a lawsuite, but with the economy in this condition, the practice of law is going to be a bit lower.

CA can spend all the money in the world if they could get their hands on it and this is another gold mine for them, they hope.

Prosecutors are also known as state attorneys. They work for the State of California. I come from a family of attorneys and I say, "Good for them for suing the pants off Toyota!" I think the prosecutors are doing the right thing here. If prosecutors, who are paid for by state taxes, don't look out for the common people, who will?

Maybe California is like lawyers who look for someone with money to get a payday from. Maybe one way to get them out of financial chaos.

Did they sue Ford when they sold cars and trucks with ignitions that might cause fires, or tires that failed? Me thinks they are going overboard.
